Making Life Just That Little Bit Easier

As a full time working mum of 2 young children, if I’m completely honest, I have always struggled trying to cope with success at work and more importantly, success in the home. Because as we all know, it’s damn hard trying to do both! Kudos to the ladies out there who can do it and do it with ease... but for some of us, basically me, it ain’t easy...

Success in the home to me, comes in the form of a clean house, home made meals, clean clothes that have been ironed and put away, (never lingering around on the bed in the spare room for days, or weeks (ahem)), the kitchen cupboards always fully stocked with nutritious food (and endless supplies of chocolate of course), being the perfect host for family gatherings, always looking my best, basically trying to be the perfect mum, the perfect wife, perfect daughter, sister, friend etc etc…..All of this of course, is perfect bullshit. I learned this over time, the hard way, but when I did, how liberating and free that was!

Over time, I realised that I am not superwoman, I’m not a machine, and guess what, I don’t want to be. I’m just your everyday woman, living one day at a time, doing the best she can, with a smile on her face and a positive attitude and a strong faith which helps me find gratitude in everything and to make the best out of every situation.

So now I live life on my terms and my first priority is to spend as much time as possible with my family, which is what brings me most joy. Because guess what, when they’re older, they won’t remember the sparking clean toilet, or the streak free mirrors or that their perfectly ironed vests (yes I did iron their vests, I know). They will remember Friday nights, when we would get a take away and watch a movie, the bike rides, the games nights, swingball in the garden, falling asleep in the bed together, and if that means sometimes I don’t wash the dishes until the next day (gasp), then that’s what I’ll do.

Don’t get me wrong, life is not about shirking from your responsibilities, my house is clean and tidy and I make home cooked meals, but I don’t kill myself doing it and you will never hear me complain as I do it on my terms. A happy mum, equates to a happy home. That’s why I’m a big advocate for doing things “the easy way” and I’m not ashamed to admit it for reasons already shared. It’s why I created and never gave up on rotibox, I knew if I could make lives easier, that it would all be worth it...
